Serve the City

The City of Richmond has an estimated population of 192,913, with a metro area population approaching 1.2 million. As a center of law, finance, and government for the state, Richmond is the home of several notable legal & banking firms, fortune 500 companies, as well as federal, state, and local government agencies. Richmond has a significant arts community, and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts is consistently ranked as one of the best in the nation. But with all of its success, it is a city still in need of Jesus. In Richmond, poverty still abounds, violence continues, drug use is apparent, and broken marriages and fractured homes are the norm. It is Aletheia's hope to build a biblical community that is actively seeking to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of our city. Following Christ's example, we desire live in the midst of the city, loving our neighbors and shining a spotlight on the redeeming work of Jesus with both our words and our lives.

Where we're Serving

Clark Springs
God has blessed us to be able to meet each week in Clark Springs Elementary School. We seek to serve their faculty, staff, and students through any means available--school supplies, gardening, working with the students. If you have a heart for kids and those who encourage them, this is a great way to serve the community in which you've been placed.
Hospitality House
Connected with the MCV Hospital downtown is a temporary lodging facility called the Hospitality House. There, patients and families of patients can stay while they or their loved ones are receiving care. We have been blessed to serve dinner there monthly, developing short and long term relationships with the staff and guests, all based on sharing the love of Christ and breaking bread together.
Elijah House
God has enabled the Kell family to begin a school called the Elijah House which scholarships students from low-income backgrounds and engages them in an environment that offers quality learning in an environment exemplifying Biblical principles. They offer opportunities to tutor individual children after school hours which Aletheia has developed an active partnership in. To get more involved with this, email Jesse Kell at kelljesse@gmail.com.
