Our current teaching series is entitled "SENT" We will be exploring the Gospel of John. The overarching purpose of the Gospel is to demonstrate that the Christ, Son of God is Jesus by weaving together several narrative strands. The first half of John's narrative sets forth evidence for Jesus' messiahship in the form of seven selected signs (John 1-12). John also includes Jesus' seven "I AM" statements. The second major section of John's Gospel shows how Jesus ensured the continuation of his mission by preparing his gospel community for its mission (John 13-21.(Kostenberger 2004: 9). My desire for this series in relation to the development of our young gospel community/church is to be rooted in the reality that Jesus is in every the Christ, the one and only begotten Son of God. In seeing this, we would be grip afresh with the center of the Gospel, Jesus! As we discover Jesus afresh I believe the we will be more apt to see our place in the mission of God, namely to create a people bent on displaying rightly, consistently, and fully the beauty of God in Christ.
